General Superintendent

Job Summary

Direct the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and subcontractors to ensure high-quality work meets the approved project schedule. Manage the project budget for general conditions, create and implement contingency plans, and maintain daily reports using industry software. Enforce safety compliance across all trades, resolve jurisdictional disputes, and lead contractor meetings while fostering a "safety first" culture. Coordinate jobsite logistics, manage Next150/Site Services needs, and train direct reports including Field Engineers and Superintendents. Establish credibility with owners, unions, and partners by maintaining a fair environment, collaborate with business development on sales strategies, and develop the Quality in Construction plan. Work on-site daily managing a $30-$100M commercial or industrial project with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10-15 years of experience on $30-$100 million commercial/industrial construction project(s) or multiple projects in a lead superintendent role
  • OSHA 30-hour certified
  • STS-C Certification
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Ability to participate in sales process, interviews, and presentations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry standard construction software tools
  • Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
  • Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
  • Familiarity with Pull Planning Process
  • Must have strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
  • Must be able to create an environment where 'safety first' is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
  • Must have experience supervising a project team
  • Must be available for the job site every day
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
