Job Summary

Direct the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and subcontractors to ensure high-quality work meets the approved project schedule while managing the general conditions budget. Enforce safety compliance across all trades, develop safety strategies, and lead daily huddles, pre-task plans, and stretch meetings. Create and implement contingency plans for the project schedule, manage jobsite logistics, and oversee the Quality in Construction plan. Train direct reports on construction knowledge and business acumen, resolve jurisdictional disputes, and maintain daily reports using industry software. Collaborate with business development to align project performance with sales strategies and foster strong relationships with owners, unions, and partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10-15 years of experience on $30-$100 million commercial/industrial construction project(s) or multiple projects in a lead superintendent role
  • OSHA 30-hour certified
  • STS-C Certification
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Ability to participate in sales process, interviews, and presentations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry standard construction software tools
  • Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
  • Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
  • Familiarity with Pull Planning Process
  • Must have strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
  • Must be able to create an environment where 'safety first' is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
  • Must have experience supervising a project team
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • You will create, manage, and update the project schedule, creating and implementing contingency plans when necessary
  • You will communicate schedule status, updates, and changes to project team and trade contractors
  • You will plan, coordinate, and manage jobsite logistics
  • You will develop the Quality in Construction (QIC) plan in partnership with the Operations Excellence team, oversee the plan and implement necessary changes
  • You will manage Next150/Site Services material and crew needs
  • You will train direct report Field Engineers and Superintendents on project needs, construction knowledge, and business acumen
  • You will assist in development, preplanning, and preconstruction/construction to write scopes of work and participate in buyout
  • You will administer Time and Materials (T&M) tracking
  • You will lead stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre-task plans
  • You will engage in the community, growing and fostering relationships in the local market
  • You will collaborate closely with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies including performance metrics on your assigned projects, pursuits, and client deliverables
  • You will actively participate in opportunities to strengthen client, partner, and industry relationships that position Gilbane as the 'Builder of Choice'
  • You will train direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks
  • You will manage workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standards
  • You will foster a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members
  • You will aid in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports
  • You may be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions
