Job Summary

Direct the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and subcontractors to ensure high-quality work meets the approved project schedule. Manage the general conditions budget, maintain daily reports, and create contingency plans for schedule updates. Enforce safety compliance, develop safety strategies, and resolve jurisdictional disputes while leading contractor meetings and daily huddles. Coordinate jobsite logistics, manage Next150/Site Services needs, and oversee the Quality in Construction plan. Train direct reports on construction knowledge and business acumen, and collaborate with business development to align project performance with sales strategies. Work on-site daily managing a $100M commercial or industrial project, fostering a "safety first" culture and driving project deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10-15 years of experience on $30-$100 million commercial/industrial construction project(s) or multiple projects in a lead superintendent role
  • OSHA 30-hour certified
  • STS-C Certification
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Ability to participate in sales process, interviews, and presentations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other industry standard construction software tools
  • Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction
  • Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control
  • Familiarity with Pull Planning Process
  • Must have strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan
  • Must be able to create an environment where 'safety first' is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude
  • Must have experience supervising a project team
  • Must be available for the job site every day
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience with Gilbane University training programs
  • Experience working under the direction of experienced Sr. General Superintendents, Project Managers and Project Executives
  • Experience promoting Gilbane's industry-recognized safety standards
  • Experience coordinating the work of trade contractors
  • Experience participating in daily project meetings
  • Experience conducting maintenance and planning of 'workarounds,' shutdowns and tie-ins
  • Experience establishing credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions, and other project partners
  • Experience resolving jurisdictional disputes
  • Experience leading contractor meetings
  • Experience maintaining daily reports and documentation using software tools
  • Experience creating, managing, and updating the project schedule
  • Experience creating and implementing contingency plans
  • Experience communicating schedule status, updates, and changes to project team and trade contractors
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and managing jobsite logistics
  • Experience developing the Quality in Construction (QIC) plan
  • Experience managing Next150/Site Services material and crew needs
  • Experience training direct report Field Engineers and Superintendents
  • Experience assisting in development, preplanning, and preconstruction/construction to write scopes of work
  • Experience administering Time and Materials (T&M) tracking
  • Experience leading stretch and flex, daily huddle, and pre-task plans
  • Experience engaging in the community, growing and fostering relationships in the local market
  • Experience collaborating closely with business development
  • Experience ensuring seamless integration with sales strategies
  • Experience tracking performance metrics on assigned projects, pursuits, and client deliverables
  • Experience strengthening client, partner, and industry relationships
  • Experience managing workload and performance of direct reports
  • Experience fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Experience communicating company and department strategy to direct reports
  • Experience assisting with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions
