Job Summary
General Repair Technician at BGIS; responsible for operating the facility including mechanical and associated support systems, performing structured inspections and preventive/corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment and other systems. Role emphasizes technical leadership, monitoring and maintaining building equipment (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) to support 24/7 operations, conducting facility walkthroughs, managing work orders with the Central Work Order Management Team, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and fire protection requirements. Requires collaboration across BGIS departments, strong safety ownership, facility inspection capabilities, and on-site presence at the Brockville, Ontario location; must be able to work shifts and be on-call as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing
- Minimum 3 years’ experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating ventilation and air conditions systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems
- Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation (one of the following bullet points)
- Building Operator Certification or equivalent through an accredited institution required
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver's abstract
- Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise
