General Plant - Laborer II (Steel)

Job Summary
Conduct general labor work including housekeeping, stulling pipe, coating, lining, painting, grinding, and end prep. Inspect and clean pipe prior to entering processes, mix cement for patchwork, and properly mark pipe with spray paint or stamps. Operate hand tools and equipment, cut materials safely, and load/unload pipe, raw materials, coils, and other items. Perform basic preventative maintenance on tools and machines, identify unsafe conditions, and follow OSHA safety requirements, work rules, and ISO procedures. Operate forklifts safely, read drawings, complete paperwork, and participate in inventories, safety meetings, and ISO audits. Maintain housekeeping within production, storage, and waste areas. Work under close to limited supervision with regular, reliable attendance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to two years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to understand and solve basic math
- Ability to comprehend and follow company procedures
- Requires experience with hand and power tools
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification if required
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and coworkers
- Must be able to work on Saturdays and overtime as required
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
