Job Summary
A General Music, Band & Choir Teacher at Lewis County High School responsible for teaching high school music with certification in Music (9-12), conducting and directing marching band, wind/percussion instruction, choir, and concert band activities. Duties include planning and overseeing summer band camp, marching in events, organizing pep band for sports and graduation, coordinating band and choir performances and auditions, scheduling events with administration, after-school rehearsals, travel, and publicizing events; opportunity to recruit students for performance choir and collaborate with middle school program.
Required Qualifications
- Valid WV Teaching Certification in Music 9-12
- Experience and knowledge of fundamentals of a high school marching band
- Experience and knowledge of wind & percussion instruction playing techniques exclusive to marching band
- Knowledge of marching band auxiliary units including flag, majorette corps and color guard
- Experience in conducting grade level IV, V & VI concert band music
- Knowledge of playing techniques for instruments traditionally used in high school concert band
- Knowledge of voice & proper singing techniques for performance choir
- Work cooperatively with Robert Bland Middle School Music program, staff and administration at LCHS
