Job Summary
Manage the General Merchandise department by setting standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, and profitability. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate department employees while determining weekly schedules and daily work plans. Handle customer interactions by greeting shoppers, answering phones, and resolving issues, while ensuring proper product pricing, inventory counts, and display planning. Oversee bookkeeping procedures, analyze sales trends, and coordinate with suppliers to maintain competitive retail prices and product freshness. Maintain strict adherence to safety guidelines, equipment maintenance, and company policies in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- One to three years of similar or related work experience
- Must be 18+
- Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions
- Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another; interview to obtain basic information; guide people and provide basic direction
- Must maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
- Must report to work when scheduled and work expected number of hours
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre employment drug screen
