Job Summary
Lead kitchen operations at a private girls' school in London, managing day-to-day food quality, safety, and presentation for pupils, staff, and visitors. Direct a small kitchen team, oversee menu planning, stock control, and supplier relationships, while maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring full compliance with food safety, health, and safeguarding policies. Champion allergen controls and collaborate with the school community to deliver efficient, high-quality meals. This role offers a permanent term-time contract with 52 weeks over all, starting in September, with a salary of £50,000 per annum.
Required Qualifications
- Right to Work in the UK
- Previous experience as a Chef Manager or similar role within contract catering
- Ideally the Independent Education sector
- Strong kitchen management and leadership skills
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards, allergen management, and sustainability best practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage day-to-day kitchen operations
- Ability to deliver fresh, high-quality meals
- Ability to ensure exceptional food service for pupils, staff, and visitors
- Ability to manage and support a small kitchen team
- Ability to foster a positive working environment
- Ability to oversee menu planning, stock control, and supplier relationships
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records including budgets, ordering, and stock rotation
- Ability to ensure compliance with all food safety, health & safety, and safeguarding policies
- Ability to work collaboratively with the school community
- Accountability for following and championing allergen controls
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a Barred List check
