Job Summary
General Manager I at Advance Auto Parts responsible for achieving store sales goals and service objectives, growing Professional Customer relationships, hiring and developing Team Members, and maintaining inventory and operational standards. Leads a 10-20 person team, with duties including manager-on-duty responsibilities, coaching, task assignment, safety, and open/close duties. Role requires 50-55 hours per week, 5-6 days, 11-hour shifts with rotating nights and weekends, and the ability to execute DIY and professional services (e.g., battery and wiper installations). Education includes a high school diploma or GED; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. ASE certification is preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of automotive systems, parts lookup, inventory control, POS and store systems, and the ability to analyze profit and loss statements is expected. Effective communication and relationship-building with Customers, peers, and upper management are essential, along with the ability to recruit, hire, and develop quality Team Members and to work across days, evenings, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in business or related area preferred
- 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20
- ASE certification preferred, but not required
- valid driver's license
- ability to work 5-6 days a week, 11-hour shifts with rotating nights and weekends
- ability to lead and train team members
- proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel; PowerPoint preferred
- ability to analyze P&L and store operational data
- strong customer relationship and sales skills
- inventory management and POS systems
- bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
