Job Summary
General Manager I role overseeing a store by driving sales and service objectives, managing Professional Customer relationships, and leading a team to execute inventory and operational standards. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, scheduling, and development of team members; serving as manager on duty with responsibilities for floor/phone management, safety, and open/close duties; leading change management and fostering an inclusive environment. Secondary duties include providing DIY services (battery install, wiper install, etc.) and collaborating with District/Region on other functions. Key skills include strong communication, parts lookup/sourcing, knowledge of automotive systems and DIY service processes, ability to analyze profitability and review P&L, and effective leadership to achieve targets. Schedule requires 50-55 hours per week with 11-hour shifts across 5-6 days, including rotating nights and weekends; bilingual ability (English, Spanish a plus) and automotive knowledge are beneficial. The role requires adherence to safety and operational practices and may involve use of Microsoft Office tools for reporting and planning.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related area preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience managing a team in a fast-paced retail environment
- Valid driver's license
- ASE certification preferred but not required
- Ability to analyze P&L statements and manage profitability
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; PowerPoint preferred
