Job Summary

Lead hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, and guest satisfaction while managing all aspects of operations including sales, marketing, and staff development. Review rates and events with the Revenue Manager to maximize yields, conduct weekly sales calls, and qualify leads. Enforce federal, state, and local laws regarding personnel, security, and health safety; handle guest complaints professionally and resolve loss prevention incidents immediately. Maintain budgeted revenues and expenses by monitoring breakfast, linen, and supply inventories, process invoices to keep accounts receivable under 90 days, and meet month-end reporting deadlines. Ensure the property is fully staffed, conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas, and maintain brand standards through preventative maintenance. Complete required training, including food handler and CPR certifications, and perform light maintenance, restocking, or laundry duties as needed. Work a minimum of 40 hours weekly with flexible scheduling to meet hotel needs.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • 4-year college degree and at least 4 to 5 years of related experience
  • 2-year college degree and at least 5 to 6 years of related experience
  • Must be proficient in Windows operating systems
  • Ability to become familiar with company-approved spreadsheets
  • Must demonstrate the ability to become proficient on the PMS within an acceptable time frame
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Complete General Manager training program within the brand required time frame
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information
  • Ability to communicate with hotel staff, guests, and management in a professional manner
  • Ability to delegate and give direction
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
  • Must be able to quickly and accurately evaluate alternative courses of action
  • Must maintain objectivity under pressure
  • Must be effective in anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
  • Knowledge of the surrounding area and events
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information including budgets, franchise statements, audits, and cash sheets
  • Read, write and speak English
  • Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures
  • Neat, well-groomed appearance including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • General Manager training completed within an acceptable time frame, as required by the brand
  • Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment
  • Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds from time to time
  • Must be able to work inside 75% or more of the time
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information including budgets, franchise statements, audits, and cash sheets
