General Maintenance Worker

Job Summary
Inspect and identify areas, equipment, or machines needing repair, then troubleshoot issues to determine necessary fixes. Plan repair work using building blueprints or equipment manuals and perform general repairs such as drywall, painting, and door fixtures. Conduct routine maintenance on building systems, clean facilities, and ensure prompt assistance to inmates during injuries, illnesses, or emotional trauma. Order supplies and materials as needed. Work after hours, weekends, and holidays with short notice while following supervisor instructions. Requires high school diploma, valid driver's license, and knowledge of carpentry and hand/power tools. Heating/air conditioning experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
- Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting
