Job Summary

Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, including replacing electrical receptacles, wires, and fixtures; patching walls and ceilings; repairing sinks, water coolers, and toilets; painting structures; and replacing concrete floors, paneling, and window panes. Execute tasks in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical trades while adhering to safe work practices. Manage material resources, track time, and travel between facilities to complete projects at customer locations. Purchase and pick up required supplies as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • One year of work experience in general building maintenance
  • demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools (such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measures, electronic/electronic testing devices)
  • knowledge of and ability to properly use specialized equipment, including that used in one or more of the trades of electrical, plumbing or general carpentry
  • Use and maintenance of own tools
  • Ability to manage material resources and time
  • Ability to work safely
  • Ability to follow directions, instructions, structured process and procedures, and to complete tasks
  • Customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests and to escalate the more difficult matters appropriately
  • Communication skills to provide procedural and factual information, and to follow written and oral instructions
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities, and to build effective working relationships with staff, customers and others
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving and common sense skills
  • Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time
  • Ability to travel to various facilities, and to work independently and as a team
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to perform physical demands including maneuvering to and around equipment
  • Ability to stand and walk
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and reach
  • Ability to lift boxes or equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders or step stools
  • Ability to perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work
  • Attention to knowing and using safe work practices
  • Ability to replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors
  • Ability to use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings
  • Ability to repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets
  • Ability to paint structures and equipment
  • Ability to repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks
  • Ability to replace damaged paneling and floor tiles
  • Ability to hang doors and install door locks
  • Ability to replace broken window panes
  • Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery
  • Ability to purchase and pick up required supplies and materials charged to company to complete various projects
  • Frequent travel between facilities
  • Ability to perform duties and operate equipment related to sign-making
  • Ability to work at a customer's location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment
  • Ability to drive to and from worksite locations
  • Ability to work in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility
  • Ability to be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, wind, rain, cold, and heat depending on external weather conditions
