Job Summary
General Maintenance Worker responsible for general maintenance and repair of district facilities, including building structures and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Performs inspections of interiors/exteriors, playground equipment, and grounds; assists skilled workers with repair tasks (woodwork, electrical switches/fixtures/motors, plumbing fixtures, drainage, painting, glass replacement); follows safety procedures and works with small hand/power tools; communicates effectively and follows written/verbal instructions; operates tools, lifts up to 45 pounds, and may drive district vehicles. Requires a Clear and valid Texas driver’s license and basic construction/maintenance knowledge; ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and complete work orders or duties assigned by maintenance supervisor. Start date July 2026; 260-262 work days; district compensation plan governs salary. On-site work in Brownwood, Texas with potential for district-wide travel.
Required Qualifications
- Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
- Ability to operate hand and power tools
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
- Experience in general building maintenance preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds and over on a daily basis
- Maintenance and repair of district facilities including electrical, plumbing, woodworking, painting, and related tasks
