Job Summary
General Maintenance Engineer responsible for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting spaces, and front-of-house areas, including some repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment; responsibilities include preparing and painting surfaces, drywall installation and finishing, installing and repairing wall coverings, and responding to guest room calls; requires one year building maintenance experience (hotel experience preferred) and strong communication skills; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally; work may require varying hotel schedules; licenses/certificates required or obtainable as needed; indoor work in temperature-controlled environments with potential exposure to extreme temps in kitchens/freezers.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of one year building maintenance experience is required
- hotel experience preferred
- Possess visual ability to identify colors and patterns, measure lengths and quantities and assess areas for repair
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must have all around skills and be able to make minor electrical, plumbing, a/c, painting, wallpaper and carpentry repairs
- Knowledge of vinyl, paper, fabric, and wall coverings of various weights is preferred
- Must possess a high level of accuracy and neatness
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel
- Licenses or Certificates: Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
