Job Summary
Defend clients in D&O, E&O, and professional liability matters while managing a diverse caseload of general liability insurance defense with an emphasis on specialty lines. Handle cases from initial assignment through resolution, including investigation, discovery, depositions, motions, and trial. Analyze liability, damages, coverage issues, and litigation exposure by drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda. Communicate regularly with insurance carriers, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and experts while managing case deadlines, budgets, and a 1,950 annual billable hour requirement. This Chicago-based firm offers a partial remote role within a specialty lines practice built by attorneys from large firms.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Bar admission in good standing
- Five or more years of insurance defense experience in Illinois
- Strong background in general liability defense litigation
- Experience independently managing litigation matters from assignment through resolution
- D&O and E&O professional liability experience
- Experience working directly with insurance carriers and sophisticated corporate clients
- This is a partial remote role based in Chicago, Illinois
Desired Qualifications
- Indiana Bar admission preferred
- Existing book of business or demonstrated ability to develop business is a plus
