Job Summary
Gather and review medical evidence and records, take depositions of claimants and experts, and conduct discovery and legal research. Draft pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, and opinions while litigating cases before workers' compensation judges. Represent employer or insurer interests at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, and arbitrations. Communicate with claims representatives, monitor loss run reports for trends, assist with accident investigations, and manage workers' compensation costs. Negotiate settlements and coordinate claims reviews. Requires J.D. with proof of admission to Kansas or Missouri bar and a proven track record in general liability defense.
Required Qualifications

- Proven track record of general liability and civil claims defense
- Working knowledge of legal principles and practices
- In depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques and legal terminology
