Job Summary
Handle all aspects of General Liability claims including Slip and Falls, Habitational, Risk Transfer, Construction, and New York Labor Law. Provide prompt service to policyholders by answering calls, filing claims, and resolving requests while gathering information to initiate cases and explain coverage. Manage an inventory of claims, analyze coverage, establish initial reserves, and negotiate settlements within approved payment authority. Direct outside investigators and counsel to resolve claims, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to process improvements. Work within a dedicated claims pod for a single account, maintaining urgency without burning out.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' General Liability claims experience (Premise, Habitational, Risk Transfer, BOPs, Dwelling)
- Experience with complex, litigated third-party bodily injury and property damage claims
- Strong policy interpretation skills, including drafting Reservation of Rights letters and coverage declinations
- Active adjuster license: resident-state license where available, otherwise a Designated Home State (DHS) license
- Willingness to obtain any additional required licenses within 60 days, including state testing
- Sound judgment analyzing complex data and making decisions within established guidelines
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent industry experience
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client and claims needs
