Job Summary

Apply daily cash receipts accurately and timely, then support reconciliation of all general ledger accounts including asset, liability, and bank accounts. Prepare and post monthly journal entries while ensuring compliance with GAAP, and assist in preparing trial balances, taxes, and audit tasks. Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll to maintain accurate financial records and contribute to system enhancements. May provide mentorship to less experienced team members. This intermediate role supports the general ledger function for Brown and Caldwell's environmental engineering and construction services firm.

Required Qualifications

  • An associate's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Equivalent experience to an associate's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Typically a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • A history of successfully performing general technical/administrative tasks
  • Prior experience with general ledger functions and month/year end close processes
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation
  • Understanding of GAAP and its application to accounting tasks
  • Experience in recording and processing journal entries
  • Familiarity with maintaining charts of accounts and trial balances
  • Proven skills in tax preparation and audit support

Desired Qualifications

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, and data validation
