Job Summary
General Labourer in the Public Works department performing manual labour across municipal operations: snow shoveling, salting/sanding, grass cutting, waste collection, recycling sorting, painting and line/road marking tasks, signage installation, and operation of small utility vehicles; role supports preventative and corrective maintenance of facilities and equipment and may be assigned to various operational areas. Temporary Full Time position for ~9 months with 80 hours bi-weekly (4x10hr shifts Tue-Fri) based in Fort McMurray; requires adherence to safety standards and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 year of related labourer experience
- SWANA courses relating to landfills and recycling are assets
- Mechanical aptitude and previous maintenance experience are assets
- Criminal Record Check submission
- Valid Class 5 Operator’s Licence required
- Q-endorsement (Air Brakes) asset
- Valid Class 3 Operators Licence asset
- Must be willing to work outside in all conditions
- Must be medically and physically able to perform duties
- Ability to work rotating shifts including holidays, evenings, nights, weekends
