Job Summary
Supervise the Sample Preparation floor during shifts, ensuring smooth operations and strict adherence to client instructions and standards. Manage daily tasks including ringing, sieving, crushing, layout verification, scanning receiving weights, and performing QC checks on shipments. Lead training and development for sample preparation technicians while resolving internal and external problems to maintain required turnaround times. Perform basic mechanical maintenance and act as a backup to the Floor Supervisor. Ensure all staff follow safety protocols and report performance to the Shift Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in mineral/geology/chemistry or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years work experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation
- Forklift licence/certification
- Valid Level 1 First Aid certificate
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 7.5 hours per shift
- Be cleanly-shaven in order to wear protective equipment
- Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa
- Hands-on experience with laboratory computer systems
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal
- Good interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality
