Job Summary
Entry-level Utility Locating Technician trained to locate underground utilities using locate equipment, read maps/blueprints, document tickets, and email; outdoors in all weather with a preference for independent work and problem-solving speed and accuracy. Responsibilities include interpreting maps/blueprints, locating utilities with provided equipment, and communicating with team and homeowners. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver license
- Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2-3 times a week
- Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 25 lbs or up to 75 lbs with tool aids
- Pass pre-employment background and drug screening
- Flexible schedule (some evenings, weekends, and an occasional Holiday)
- Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotation
- Read maps, interpret blueprints, and determine locating methods
- Use provided locate equipment and technology to locate underground utilities
- Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners
