Job Summary
Handle vehicles safely and efficiently to produce core and scrap products while enabling customers to pull parts. Remove fluids, batteries, and components like catalytic converters in accordance with prescribed procedures. Operate the tire machine to separate rubber, sort tires, and prepare rims for shipment. Dismantle engines and transmissions to harvest cores and wire, maintaining the crush pad work area to minimize downtime. Collect dismantled materials, remove debris, and proactively address safety hazards. Prepare Gaylord boxes and pallets for shipment, complete regulatory logs, and assist customers in a courteous manner. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions with a variable schedule including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including the comprehension of basic safety messages, labels, and hazard communications such as waste oil, gasoline, and flammable materials.
- Ability to work required hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of outdoor weather conditions, including rain, snow, extreme heat, and cold, for the duration of a full shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stretch regularly throughout the assigned work shift.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools, operate equipment, and maintain facility cleanliness.
- The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Sufficient vision to safely perform all job functions.
- 18 years of age or older
- Must pass a post-offer drug screen and background check
- Must review and sign an Arbitration Agreement
- Must be able to work in outdoor environments within an auto salvage yard setting
- Must be able to handle exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, automotive fluids, and noise
- Must be able to adhere to safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and peak sale days
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in automotive repair, vehicle dismantling, or the operation of tools and machinery
- Familiarity with automotive parts
- Experience working with retail customers
