Job Summary
Conduct daily vehicle dismantling and part extraction in an auto salvage yard, including removing fluids, engines, transmissions, and tires while maintaining environmental compliance. Operate machinery to separate rubber from wheels, sort commodity materials, and prepare rims for shipment. Safely position vehicles on wheel stands for customer access, remove debris, and harvest cores to minimize equipment downtime. Assist customers courteously, prepare shipping boxes and pallets, complete regulatory logs, and maintain stormwater control devices. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions under a variable schedule including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including the comprehension of basic safety messages, labels, and hazard communications such as waste oil, gasoline, and flammable materials.
- Ability to work required hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of outdoor weather conditions, including rain, snow, extreme heat, and cold, for the duration of a full shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stretch regularly throughout the assigned work shift.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools, operate equipment, and maintain facility cleanliness.
- The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Sufficient vision to safely perform all job functions as described.
- Age of 18 years or older.
- Adherence to safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- A consistently diligent, cooperative, and professional demeanor.
- A safety-minded approach.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in automotive repair, vehicle dismantling, or the operation of tools and machinery.
- Familiarity with automotive parts and/or working with retail customers.
