Job Summary
Assist journeyman trades with highway and roadway construction, demolition, and site preparation including earthwork, trenching, and debris removal. Operate handheld equipment like jackhammers and tampers while carrying materials up to 60 pounds and climbing ladders or scaffolding. Support asphalt paving, concrete placement, form work, and traffic control setup. Travel frequently to various project sites and work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime. Maintain alertness in a high-risk environment while following safety procedures and traffic laws.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to understand and follow traffic control plans and safety procedures
- Strong communication skills to interact with drivers, coworkers, and supervisors
- Basic knowledge of road construction safety practices and traffic laws
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift equipment, and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and focused in a high-risk environment
- Dependability and punctuality
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
