Job Summary
Ensure work areas are clean, safe, and ready for construction by removing debris and hazards. Handle tools, raw materials, and equipment while loading and unloading items for tasks. Perform manual labor including digging trenches, compacting soil, and backfilling excavated areas. Operate construction off-road vehicles and follow safety protocols. Assist heavy equipment operators and skilled workers by following construction plans and taking direction from supervisors. Complete assigned training in a timely fashion and maintain a positive, safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to learn from more experienced craft to become more proficient and knowledgeable
- Demonstrate the ability to finish tasks safely, accurately, and promptly
- Knowledge of standard hand and power tools and how to use them safely and correctly
- Basic construction experience
- Ability to solve problems
- Basic carpentry skills
- Able to relay and receive information from field management needed for the current project/task
- Strong work ethic
- Good attitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrate the ability to stay on task efficiently, safely, and flexibly
- Must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to, hard hats, steel toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust vision
- Must be able to lift, handle, or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds
- Must be able to lift, handle, or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to bend, stoop, sit, walk, or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must maintain a constant state of mental alertness and situational awareness
- Must be able to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather
- Must be able to walk over rough and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to handle exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer)
- Must have acceptable background check results
- Must obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations (if applicable to the contract)
