Job Summary
Load and unload material from supplier and customer vehicles, sorting scrap metal into appropriate processing areas. Inspect inbound shipments and identify specific metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and stainless steel. Weigh and package scrap by placing it in boxes, on pallets, or into baling equipment. Move yard and warehouse materials using forklifts, skid loaders, or payloaders, and perform minor repairs with hand tools. Wear all necessary personal protective equipment and adhere strictly to company safety standards. Some mechanical aptitude is required, and candidates must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. and 100+ lbs. on a two-person lift. Training is provided for machinery operation.
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must be able to interact with suppliers/customers in a friendly and courteous manner
- Some mechanical aptitude is necessary
- Qualified candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs
- Qualified candidates must be able to lift 100+lbs on 2-person lift
- Candidates must wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment when working outside of the office
- Follows company safety standards at all times
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Prior experience operating forklift or other machinery is beneficial but not required
