Job Summary
Sort, stack, band, and stage lumber according to grade and size specifications while removing scrap and debris from production areas. Sweep floors, pick up broken pieces, and shovel material to maintain clean work zones. Monitor material flow to prevent jams, use hand tools for strapping bundles, and conduct routine equipment checks. Follow all safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and company policies in an industrial environment with moving machinery. Perform other duties as assigned. This full-time, compressed Wednesday-Friday schedule runs from 6:00am to 6:00pm.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively and professionally to customers or employees of an organization
- Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Mathematical skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Prior manufacturing experience
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to wear hearing protection, a hard hat, safety glasses, safety footwear, and a high-visibility shirt/vest
- Ability to comply with all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and required drug and alcohol testing procedures
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (8-12-hour shifts)
- Ability to climb and descend steps, stairways, or ladders several times per shift
