Job Summary
Perform miscellaneous production duties by supplying hanging parts, staging tubular products, and preparing small parts for the galvanizing process. Clean and finish product using hand or power tools, hand wire parts to racks, and move lightweight steel pieces by hand. Execute paddling functions with air guns to blow off zinc needles and assist in general plant cleanup. Inspect unsafe tools and fixtures, provide backup on forklifts or cranes, and work safely while protecting yourself and others. Read and follow written instructions, use hand tools and gauges, and communicate needs to supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- The ability to learn and apply training
- The ability to be flexible within the plant (changing departments as needed)
- The ability to use hand tools and/or power tools
- The ability to accurately read a tape measure
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- The ability to push, pull, stand, bend, walk, and climb as job requires
- The ability to work in an outside environment
- The ability to communicate problems/needs to lead or supervisor
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Six months of previous experience in a galvanizing position
- Six months of previous experience with hand tools and gauges including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, taps, oxygen acetylene torches, and mill gauges
- Six months of previous experience operating a bridge crane
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
