Job Summary
Coordinate crew members, equipment, tools, and supplies to complete jobs efficiently, correctly, and profitably. Always follow and enforce safe practices, teach safety regulations to ensure 100% compliance, and instruct employees on safe equipment operation. Promptly dispatch crews to job sites, determine workable hours, and approve time submissions while keeping non-chargeable hours and overtime to a minimum. Hire, train, and discipline employees; maintain good morale and handle basic grievances. Assist in filling out accident reports, investigate causes, and ensure first aid equipment is readily available. Accountable for all tools, equipment, safety devices, materials, and supplies, storing them safely each night. Use and transport materials and chemicals to avoid waste, loss, and hazards. Know operating conditions of all equipment, recommend maintenance to avoid breakdowns, and ensure proper certifications for drivers and employees. Perform duties for storm work as needed, including traveling out of town for storm restoration.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a General Foreperson working around powerlines
- Must be willing to travel
- Driver's License
- 5 or more years as a General Foreperson in line clearance
- Must be able to supervise the performance of individual employees and various crews' performance
- Must be able to delegate work and take accountability for the performance of a crew
- Must be able to meet and demonstrate qualifications of all positions on a crew
- Must be able to travel throughout the week to assigned crew locations
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Must have and maintain a Driver's License and be able to safely drive a company vehicle
- Must be able to work outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions
- Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
- Must be able to effectively communicate with others
- Must be able to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed
- Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen
- Must meet I-9 requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with ropes and knots
- At least 5 years' prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries
- Previous experience as a General Foreperson
- High School diploma or education equivalent
