Job Summary
Oversee locomotive maintenance procedures for scheduled and unscheduled repairs while managing new technology initiatives at the Bowden Locomotive Shop. Develop and implement a maintenance records system to track periodic maintenance and running repairs, then issue FRA reports to ensure compliance. Train personnel on database usage and provide in-house software training, while generating managerial reports to optimize data. Support the Chief Mechanical Officer with administrative and operational tasks. Night and weekend availability is required to handle operational situations, with some general travel needed for line-of-road responses. Applicants must hold a Florida driver's license and pass a background check and drug test.
Required Qualifications
- AS degree
- 10 years related experience in all aspects of Locomotive or Car Maintenance of Equipment operations
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as data analysis associated with overhaul, periodic maintenance, and supplier contracts
- Ability to evaluate technical information associated with Component parts engineering reports and analysis
- Must hold a Florida's Driver's License
- Support safety of co-workers and promote safety throughout the company
- Self-motivated with a disposition toward critical/analytical thinking and process improvement
- Ability to identify issues and propose solutions
- Demonstrated project planning and management skills
- Must have proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written and present information to various audiences, including executives, customers and employees
- Proven ability to effectively handle multiple tasks in various stages of completion
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work with limited supervision and flexibility as needed
- Night and weekend availability to deal with situations as they arise in the effort to keep railroad operations running smoothly
- Some general travel required to respond to line of road situations in a timely manner
- Successfully complete and pass a background check and drug test, prior to the position's start date
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
