Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate a crew of workers within a specific craft or trade, ensuring tasks progress timely while adapting to weather, supply, and personnel changes. Delegate individual responsibilities and projects to crew members and contractors, recruiting, hiring, training, and mentoring them. Provide adequate resources to meet project schedules and safety needs, emphasizing safe tool and machinery use. Develop and manage project budgets and quality standards, resolving conflicts quickly and reporting status to supervisors and engineers.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Appropriate training and experience
- Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration
- Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors
- Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks
- Speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to clients and construction workers and discussing technical details
- Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings
- Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensuring construction phases are completed on time
- Writing skills for writing budgets, proposals and plans along with documenting work progress
- Ability to work easily and skillfully with hands
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds
- Ability to see well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors
- Ability to reach for, handle, and grasp wires and hand tools
- Ability to bend, crouch, and work in small places
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
