Job Summary
Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. Help teacher prepare instructional materials, maintain a neat classroom, and manage student behavior, including intervening in crisis situations. Provide orientation to substitute teachers and supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Assist students with physical disabilities and develop motor skills through instructional exercises. Maintain confidentiality, keep administrative records, and participate in staff development training. Requires a Texas Educational Aide Certificate, high school diploma, and ability to work with children with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester hours of college coursework); or have obtained, at minimum, an associate's degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment knowledge or, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and math or knowledge or, and the ability to assist in instructing reading and writing readiness, and math readiness, as appropriate
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Some experience working with children
