Job Summary
Consult with patients to ascertain dental concerns, perform investigations including visual exams and x-rays, and make diagnoses affecting teeth, gums, or jaw bone structures. Execute required procedures to alleviate pain or fix broken or decaying teeth, including fillings, root canals, scale and polish, fluoride coating, tooth extraction, and obtaining molds for implants or false teeth. Educate patients on proper oral health maintenance, prescribe painkillers or antibiotics when needed, and maintain clean, hygienic working office standards. Keep up-to-date dental records for all patients and make referrals to specialists when necessary while adhering to patient confidentiality guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a field related to science, such as biology
- Masters degree or doctorate in Dentistry
- Four years of internship, externship, or medical school with a focus on dentistry
- Relevant board certification and license to practice for the state/region you practice in
- Demonstrated knowledge of the use of dental and medical equipment such as x-ray machines and drills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Extremely organized, with a keen eye for small details
- Strong investigative and documenting abilities
- Patient-focused with good relationship-building abilities
