Job Summary
Meet patients to discuss dental health habits, examine and treat oral tissue, and diagnose illnesses or infections. Prescribe medications, develop treatment plans, and instruct patients on proper oral care. Review medical history at every visit, hold informed consent discussions, and document all pathologic conditions and treatments in accordance with policy. Supervise dental hygienists and support staff, monitor x-ray quality, and assist with in-service training. Maintain required certifications and comply with OSHA and HIPAA regulations. Full-time position in New Haven, CT with competitive compensation and benefits including malpractice coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD)
- A state license to practice dental medicine
- In-depth understanding of oral hygiene and dental procedures
- Working experience in diagnosing illnesses and treating them
- Ability to communicate with patients about their oral health and problems
- Compassion and patience
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and also the ability to stand for prolonged periods throughout the day/work hours when needed
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write/type
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Must be familiar with all scopes of general dentistry
- Proficient in root canals, extractions and crowns
