Job Summary
The General Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within school buildings and surrounding grounds, performing a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and custodial tasks to ensure facilities are sanitary, functional, and presentable for students, staff, and visitors. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing, assisting with room setups, and reporting maintenance or safety concerns to supervisory staff. Must follow established procedures, maintain professional appearance, and collaborate with staff to uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
- Negative tb test results required before onboarding
- Regular indoor work with occasional outdoor duties; ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 90 lbs occasionally
- Experience in custodial/maintenance or related field preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Must be able to follow district safety procedures and operate cleaning equipment
- Ability to open/close facilities and ensure security after hours
- Reports to Lead Custodian and School Principal
