Job Summary
Lead the in-house Legal Department and security team by advising the President/CEO and Board on corporate governance, healthcare regulatory law, and emerging political developments. Oversee strategic legal planning, contract lifecycle management, and the management of litigation, disputes, and claims while directing external counsel engagements. Direct the organization's security and business continuity program, manage the legal and compliance budget, and develop training materials to foster a culture of risk awareness. Serve as a thought partner on long-term strategic initiatives and represent the organization on legal matters as requested by senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- State bar membership in good standing, either California or Registered In-House Counsel in California with substantive California law knowledge
- A Juris Doctorate from an accredited university
- Must have healthcare experience
- Minimum 10 years work experience in a majority of the following areas: corporate and board governance; healthcare regulatory law; medical professional liability management; civil litigation; complex contracting; federal and state privacy and protected health information laws and regulations; enterprise risk management; California employment and labor law; commercial real estate; patient safety processes; security/law enforcement-related legal and risk issues; and nonprofit, political activity...
- Experience at the VP level or equivalent role (e.g., officer, director, or other organizational decision-making role)
- Demonstrated ability as an effective executive-level leader including coaching and team-building skills, delegation, critical thinking skills, and strategic solutions-based communication
