Job Summary
Negotiate commercial agreements, structure deals from term sheet to execution, and advise leadership on acquisitions and strategic initiatives. Navigate federal and state lending laws, monitor regulatory developments, and build compliant processes for an independent mortgage company. Advise on employment law, manage litigation strategy and settlements, and oversee the IP portfolio including trademarks and software licensing. Select and manage outside counsel relationships focused on value and results while leading two direct reports to foster a high-performance legal team. This hands-on role requires decisive action in a fast-paced environment where speed matters, based at the Strongsville, Ohio headquarters.
Required Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- active bar admission in good standing
- 10+ years of legal experience
- Proven track record in business transactions and commercial contracting
- Meaningful exposure to employment, IP, and litigation management
- Mortgage industry experience is a plus, but not a prerequisite; we value commercial and legal instincts over industry-specific credentials
