Job Summary

Draft, review, and negotiate customer agreements, NDAs, supply agreements, and reseller documents with counterparties ranging from Fortune 500 enterprises to startups. Standardize terms and conditions while building a contract clause playbook that includes standard positions, acceptable fallbacks, and escalation triggers. Structure liability, indemnification, and warranty terms aligned with robotics safety standards, and negotiate data processing agreements and AI-use provisions supporting defense compliance requirements. Manage employment matters, including restrictive covenant templates and litigation alongside outside counsel, while serving as the single point of contact for all legal questions. Support international expansion through subsidiary formation and cross-border contracting. This role is hybrid, with three days per week on-site in Glen Cove, NY or Manhattan.

Required Qualifications

  • J.D.
  • admission to practice in New York
  • experience addressing legal matters in other states
  • 6–10 years of experience with a substantial focus on commercial contracts and technology transactions
  • law firm training
  • in-house experience
  • experience with hardware, industrial technology, robotics, or manufacturing companies
  • understanding of physical products, supply chains, and product liability
  • ability to negotiate directly with sophisticated counterparties
  • experience negotiating with large enterprise legal teams
  • comfort as a department of one
  • strong judgment on risk
  • pragmatism to keep deals moving
  • business-first mindset
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to explain legal risk plainly to non-lawyers
  • reliable availability to work on-site in Manhattan or Glen Cove three days per week

Desired Qualifications

  • Government contracting experience (DFARS flowdowns, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171)
  • Employment law or employment litigation management experience
  • International experience — entity formation, cross-border agreements, or expansion into new markets
  • Data privacy expertise (DPA negotiation, GDPR/state privacy laws)
  • Corporate/M&A or venture transaction experience
  • Experience building a legal function from scratch at a high-growth startup
