Job Summary
Negotiate commercial agreements, structure deals from term sheet through execution, and advise leadership on acquisitions and strategic initiatives. Navigate federal and state lending laws, monitor regulatory developments, and build compliant processes for an independent mortgage company. Advise on employment law issues, manage litigation strategy and settlements, and oversee the IP portfolio including trademarks and software licensing. Select and manage outside counsel relationships while leading two direct reports and developing scalable legal infrastructure. This hands-on role requires decisive action in a fast-paced environment where speed matters, based at the Strongsville, Ohio headquarters.
Required Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in good standing
- 10+ years of legal experience
- Proven track record in business transactions and commercial contracting
- Meaningful exposure to employment, IP, and litigation management
- Strong communication skills to translate legal complexity into plain business language for executives and business partners
- High ownership mentality with accountability for outcomes
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Collaborative and approachable demeanor
- Comfortable operating without extensive support infrastructure
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (E-Verify)
