Job Summary
General Counsel, International role leading legal and regulatory matters across the UK, Ireland, and Canada for a regulated consumer finance business. Serves as principal legal advisor to the CEO and International leadership, interpreting and applying regulatory requirements across products, distribution models, and customer journeys; provides commercially focused advice on legal and regulatory risk; supports Board-level governance; leads oversight of retail finance products; advises on risk allocation, contractual protections, and complex commercial arrangements; provides strategic oversight of data protection framework in collaboration with the internal DPO; maintains governance frameworks and works cross-functionally with Compliance, Product & Technology, Finance, HR, and Group functions; requires senior-qualified lawyer with extensive post-qualification experience in financial services regulation and product structuring/distribution guidance, capable of operating at CEO and Board level in a lean, distributed model; flexible working arrangements are offered within a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer in NI or RoI
- Significant post-qualification experience in financial services regulation
- Experience advising on product structuring and distribution models
- Experience operating at General Counsel or equivalent senior level
- Strong regulatory judgement and ability to make independent regulatory calls
- Commercial pragmatism and ability to enable business growth while managing risk
- Comfort in a lean, distributed model with accountability to CEO/Board level
- Cross-functional collaboration across Legal, Compliance, Product, HR, Finance and Group
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and provide clarity where frameworks are developing
