Job Summary
The General Counsel for the NYC Fire Pension Fund will provide legal counsel to the Executive Director, Board of Trustees, Medical Board, and agency staff; represent the Fund at Board and committee meetings; analyze pension-system-related legal issues; conduct legal research; draft summaries of new laws for implementation; liaise with the Law Department and other NY agencies; oversee the Legal Affairs Division including drafting and reviewing contracts, program materials, and regulatory responses; ensure timely handling of litigation and compliance matters; review court orders and settlements; draft procedural memos; negotiate contracts and oversee procurement processes; and supervise staff while ensuring high-quality work product.
Required Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- four years of full-time relevant legal experience after admission, of which eighteen months must be in supervision of other attorneys
- experience in administrative, managerial or executive capacity or performing highly complex and significant legal work
