Job Summary
General Counsel for the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD): lead and integrate the agency’s legal function focused on contracting and procurement, provide strategic legal guidance to align program, procurement, finance, and operations, oversee drafting/negotiation/execution of contracts and MOUs in a high-volume environment, manage a high-performing legal team, ensure compliance with public-sector requirements (FOIL, ethics, privacy, data governance, administrative law), represent DYCD in interagency and external matters, advise on procurement law and civil/labor rights, and drive process improvements to enable timely, accountable service delivery across a large, complex system.
Required Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- four years of recent full-time responsible legal experience after admission to any bar
- eighteen months in supervision of other attorneys in administrative/managerial/executive capacity or performing highly complex legal work
