Job Summary
Counsel executive leadership and the Board of Directors on governance, major transactions, regulatory compliance, fundraising, risk management, and technology strategy. Oversee corporate governance, contract review, insurance policies, intellectual property, and charitable registration filings. Act as chief compliance and risk officer for employment, data security, and human subject research. Manage outside counsel, support finance on audited financials and Form 990 returns, and counsel clinicians on family law and litigation. Advise HR on personnel matters and review research protocols and IRB submissions. Serve as legal representative on IT Incident Response, 401(k), and Clinical Incident Review Committees. This exempt, full-time role requires a minimum of four days per week in the NYC headquarters office.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree
- 8 years of legal experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel
- Licensed to practice law in New York
- Trusted advisor who provides clear, practical counsel to senior leadership and the Board
- Balances immediate business needs with long-term organizational goals and legal risks
- Demonstrates the highest standards of ethics, accountability, and professional judgment
- Builds consensus and effectively advises diverse stakeholders
- Leads complex, high-stakes negotiations with confidence and sound judgment
- Remains decisive, adaptable, and solutions-focused during periods of change or uncertainty
- Understands organizational operations, financial considerations, technology, and evolving regulatory environments
- Develops creative legal solutions that support responsible growth and new initiatives
- Minimum of four (4) days per week in the NYC headquarters office
