Job Summary
The General Cleaner is responsible for performing cleaning activities to maintain a sanitary and orderly environment in assigned buildings. Key responsibilities include high dusting, sanitizing surfaces, bathroom cleaning, emptying trash cans, floor dusting and vacuuming, caring for outside areas, cleaning public common areas and food court, and floor sanitizing. Required skills include knowledge of janitorial work practices, safe handling of chemicals, proper cleaning techniques, and effective communication. The role demands physical stamina and the ability to operate cleaning equipment. The hiring rate for this position is $14 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
- Familiarity with janitorial methods, materials, and equipment.
- Basic safe work practices.
- Knowledge of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
- Capability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
- Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
- Physical stamina for walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.
- Ability to lift/carry items weighing 1-30 lbs.
- Skills in pushing/pulling and using both hands and arms during cleaning tasks.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Capacity for bending, twisting, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling while cleaning.
