Job Summary
Conduct daily cleaning in assigned buildings, including high dusting, sanitizing surfaces, emptying trash, and vacuuming floors using proper techniques. Perform bathroom sanitation, spot clean windows, and maintain grounds care by clearing sidewalks, ash urns, and public areas. Sanitize food court tables and equipment, ensuring all corners and edges are free of debris. Review work visually after each task to maintain order and report broken items to a supervisor. Maintain a clean personal appearance, speak quietly, and remain in your assigned area unless directed otherwise. Operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment while following safe work practices and chemical handling guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work
- Knowledge of basic methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial work
- Knowledge of basic safe work practices
- Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets)
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors
- Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment
- Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities
- Ability to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate powered and non-powered equipment
- Ability to lift/carry 1 – 30 lbs. equipment, supplies, trash
- Ability to push/pull, using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas, drapes
- Ability to bend/twisting/balancing at waist, knees, neck throughout shift
- Ability to kneel/crouching/crawling while cleaning lower areas, retrieving supplies from lower shelves
- Ability to reach, handle, grasp and finger while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces and using cleaning equipment
- Ability to perform overhead reaching throughout shift
- Ability to sight in performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards
- Ability to require depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use
