Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive cleaning in assigned buildings, performing high dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and emptying trash cans. Execute floor dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing with proper equipment and solutions. Maintain grounds care by cleaning sidewalks, ash urns, and public areas, including the food court. Inspect rooms visually to ensure furniture placement and cleanliness standards. Report broken items to a supervisor and maintain a courteous, quiet presence. Perform other duties as assigned, including floor care and carpet extraction. Work Monday through Sunday from 5am to 10am.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work
- Knowledge of basic methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial work
- Knowledge of basic safe work practices
- Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets)
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors
- Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment
- Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Operating powered and non-powered equipment
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Lifting/carrying 1 – 30 lbs. equipment, supplies, trash
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Push/pull, using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Climbing stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas, drapes
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Bending/twisting/balancing at waist, knees, neck throughout shift
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Kneeling/crouching/crawling while cleaning lower areas, retrieving supplies from lower shelves
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Reaching, handling, grasping and fingering while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces and using cleaning equipment
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Overhead reaching required throughout shift
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Sight – in performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards. Requires depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use
