Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive cleaning of commercial buildings, including high dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and vacuuming floors using treated equipment. Empty trash cans, clean ash urns, and spot clean sidewalks, flower beds, and vending machines in outdoor areas. Mop hallways, lobby, and stairs, while ensuring glass is cleaned several times daily and plants are free of debris. Sanitize food court tables and remove dirty trays for washing. Perform other duties as assigned, such as floor stripping, carpet extraction, and auto scrubbing. Work 5am to 10am shifts at the Fairborn location, maintaining a clean personal appearance and reporting broken items to a supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work
- Knowledge of basic methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial work
- Knowledge of basic safe work practices
- Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets)
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors
- Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment
- Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Operating powered and non-powered equipment
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Lifting/carrying 1 – 30 lbs. equipment, supplies, trash
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Push/pull, using both hands and arms while performing cleaning duties, exerting 5-35 lbs force
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Climbing stairs and ladders while cleaning upper areas, drapes
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Bending/twisting/balancing at waist, knees, neck throughout shift
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Kneeling/crouching/crawling while cleaning lower areas, retrieving supplies from lower shelves
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Reaching, handling, grasping and fingering while operating equipment, using hand and power tools, wiping and cleaning surfaces and using cleaning equipment. Overhead reaching required throughout shift
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: Sight – in performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards. Requires depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use
