Job Summary
Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors; machine shampoo carpeting; clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, light fixtures, and windows; wash glass doors; clean restrooms and replenish supplies; remove snow and ice with salt or melting products; change interior light bulbs; and organize custodial closets. Complete work requests to notify management of needed repairs and move or set up furniture, furnishings, and equipment as directed for special functions. Part-time staff typically cover 10–12 rooms while full-time staff cover 12–20 rooms, varying by school. This role provides direct support to classroom teachers in setting up and maintaining furniture and equipment. Optional daily pay is available, and the position offers medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with paid vacation, sick days, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- No prior work experience required
- Must be able to sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors
- Must be able to machine shampoo carpeting
- Must be able to clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures
- Must be able to wash interior and exterior windows and glass doors
- Must be able to sweep entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and empty trashcans immediately outside building entrances
- Must be able to clean restrooms, plunger sinks and toilets, and replenish supplies
- Must be able to change interior light bulbs that can be reached from the sixth step of a ladder or lower
- Must be able to complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work
- Must be able to remove snow and ice and apply salt and/or ice melting products to assigned areas when needed
- Must be able to organize and supply custodial closets as needed
- Must be able to move, remove, and/or set up furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and any other items, inside specified rooms for special functions as directed
