General Assembler - 1st Shift

Job Summary
Assemble steering gear components by loading parts onto conveyor systems, installing seals and covers, and applying torque while scanning for dimensions and detecting leaks. Utilize gauges and tools to assess component tolerances, perform machine offsets, and program Material Management Controllers to ensure quality and machine operation. Conduct daily first-piece inspections, maintain fluid levels, and verify work against Technical Specifications and ISO standards. Adhere to safety procedures and 5S standards while operating equipment to meet production targets. This 8-hour day shift role requires standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, and working in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to heat, noise, and fumes.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend and lift from the floor, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of Shop math and blueprint reading preferred
- Problem solving/troubleshooting skills
- Experience in production/manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles preferred
